after trying out a bunch of stuff on my yesterday, i'm somewhat torn between digging deeper into ubports and trying to optimize that, as the ux is actually rather good if a bit sluggish rn, or to try to build up something workable on top of a pmOS base, though i'm not really that big of a fan of either plasma mobile or phosh...

my ideal furry universe 1000% has fantasy/scifi universe magic. because if i can't learn and put to use unutterable and horrific truths from eldritch abominations beyond the veil of time, then what even is the point of being a cartoon lion.

on the one hand, this guy on youtube won't let me store my whole name, but on the other hand i can be over 2 billion years old and pick one of exactly 256 possible genders

A lot of time, when furries talk, they talk about their fursoñas as their ideal selves. I've found it's more likely that their fursoñas are them at their most normal, most natural, most earnest.

It's strange that this venue seen as escapist by even its own members is basically just a means of exploring what it means to be earnest in an ironic world.

Hackers (1995) is still critically relevant to the modern hacking community.

like, i still love vim for coding and performing administrative tasks, but sometimes i just don't want to deal with something that chonky or complicated just to bang out a personal letter or essay

was looking for a minimalist word processor because i needed something distraction-free. at first i was just going to download focuswriter again, but on a whim i decided to give wordgrinder a spin and i just really really like it, at least from a usability perspective. it runs in the command line, and provides the features i need to write nontechnical documents without too much apparent complexity ootb

so one of the rare book orders i made was cancelled because the book had been damaged and "did not meet [the seller's] quality standards", and they decided to destroy it rather than sell it. like the only thing i can think of is that it got mangled by machinery or moldy or something, but it's still incredibly sad to me

@RobinHood "A student once asked anthropologist Margaret Mead, “What is the earliest sign of civilization?” The student expected her to say a clay pot, a grinding stone, or maybe a weapon.

Margaret Mead thought for a moment, then she said, “A healed femur.”

umm, white whale as in something i've been looking for but not expecting to find for a reasonable cost. not books literally about whales or copies of moby dick or something. that was probably obvious but it's not exactly a phrase i say or hear all that often

snagged a couple of white whale books off of ebay for super cheap, though the shipping was a bit steep for one of them and neither is in amazing condition, but i'll still be happy to be able to pick them up off of my bookshelf irl
